So, what's an EIS?

In order to understand an EIS we have to talk about Specialized Skills Training or SST services..........

SST is a unique, comprehensive developmental service only offered by ECI and is provided by qualified and trained personnel.

A person interested in getting this certification must have a bachelors degree related to early childhood intervention and then complete post-graduate training.  This training is specialized in infant and toddler development both typical and a-typical patterns and how this evolution is interconnected across all developmental domains.  These professionals also study early childhood cognitive skills, social interactions and common infant and toddler behaviors.  Finally, staff are trained how to embed interactions into the families daily activities to increase the opportunity for the caregiver and child to practice newly developed skills.

Once ECI staff have completed the requirements of this training they receive the  Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) credentialing.  This certification requires yearly Continuing Education Units or CEUs to stay active with the state.  The services provided by an EIS is billed as Specialized Skills Training or SST.
